Merchants and property owners gather to discuss a Business Improvement District for Victory Blvd, Westerleigh-Castleton Corners in May 2012.
The Victory Blvd BID- – Aims to be the Second Business Improvement District on Staten Island
The West Brighton Community Local Development Corporation (WBCLDC) is assisting merchants and property owners of the Victory Boulevard commercial corridor, located between Mann Avenue and Todt Hill Road, to form the second Business Improvement District on Staten Island. The area is approximately .7 miles long and located with the neighborhoods of Castleton Corners and Westleigh, Staten Island.
The Victory Boulevard business district includes approximate 140 businesses and is anchored by Starbucks at the western end of the boulevard; Met Food and Reiman’s Hardware centrally located; and Doody’s Hardware at the eastern end. A portion of Jewett Avenue, Bradley Avenue and Manor Road will be included in the proposed BID, as they are not only connected to Victory Blvd, but impact the overall shopping district. There are five banks located within the business district and recently Richmond County Savings Bank became the first to sponsor the Victory Blvd BID effort with a contribution to assist West Brighton Community LDC , acting as BID facilitator, to pay for mailings, organizing and outreach efforts/costs.
