West Brighton Community Local Development Corporation (WBCLDC) provides assistance to business and property owners located along the Castleton Avenue Commercial Corridor between Bard Avenue and Jewett Avenue. Merchant Organizing, Business Attraction and Economic Stabilization services are provided through funding from the Avenue NYC program administered by Small Business Services.
Since 1980, the West Brighton Community LDC has been working in the West Brighton Community to ensure the economic vitality and quality of life of the community. The West Brighton Community LDC is also the founder and administor the only Business Improvement District on Staten Island, the Forest Avenue BID.
Anti-Graffiti and Litter Removal Initiative
These ongoing projects combine the efforts of the WBCLDC and other volunteers to remove unsightly graffiti from storefronts and litter from vacant lots. The WBCLDC is working with the West Brighton merchants to participate in the NYC Sanitation Department’s “Adopt-A-Basket” program.
Liaison to Government Agencies
The WBCLDC assists local businesses by keeping them informed of current government regulations that affect their businesses.
Marketing Information
We maintain a database on all properties in the area. Through surveys and focus groups, the WBCLDC maintains current marketing statistics about the West Brighton area.
Promotional Events
The WBCLDC coordinates events designed to bring merchants and residents together promoting community spirit. Events include holiday lighting on Forest and Castleton Avenues, parades, poster and essay contests advertised through cooperative advertisements.
