Join us on Friday, April 27th from Noon to 2 p.m. for WBCLDC’s First Annual S.I. Green Awards Luncheon, Celebrating Small Businesses and Community Leaders “Going Green”. The event will acknowledge the commitment of local business owners and community leaders that have truly made a commitment to “Go Green”, thus creating a more sustainable Staten Island.
The Staten Island Green Initiative provides technical assistance to small businesses when seeking ways to reduce energy consumption and implement Eco-friendly business practices in both the workplace and larger Staten Island community. We provide free business counseling, seminars, and peer to peer learning with roundtable discussions and access to incentive programs and financing.
This program is funded by Citi-foundation, and supplements the business counseling services we provide through the Business Outreach Center of S.I. at West Brighton Community LDC. Additional support from Con Edison, Free Lighting Corp and National Grid prvides resources to Staten Island Small Businesses and promotes awareness among consumers of services and products available to be eco-friendly.
Honorees include:
- Maureen Fairlie , owner of Snappy Solutions, a NYC Certified Woman-owned business that provides Eco-friendly cleaning supplies and construction materials.
- Susan Fowler of S.I. Director of City Harvest and Give to Grow coordinator
- Vivian Pisano, Owner of an Eco-friendly salon and spa Secret Garden Salon and Spa; Also, completed an Eco-friendly Renovation.
- J.R. Rich , Green Coordinator of the JCC.
Several Businesses will be acknowledged for completed retrofits and Best Practices.
