Suit Drive and Pre-Conference event at Comfort Inn

Staten Island’s newest hotel, the Comfort Inn, was the setting for the WBCLDC’s recent Pre-Conference event promoting the 8th Annual Business Woman Conference and new Suit Up & Succeed Program. It was the perfect opportunity to make new business contacts, donate a suit for the Suit Up & Succeed Program and learn more about the upcoming 8th Annual Business Woman Conference, to be held at LiGreci’s Staaten on Wednesday, June 20th.

Claire Guadagno of HandPicked Creations, at 59 New Dorp Plaza and Frank Pentecost of Con Edison and WBCLDC Board member.

Ann Colangelo, Regional Director of Sales the M&R Hotal Group, represented both the Comfort Inn and Holiday Inn Express, at 310-300 Wild Avenue. As hosts, they donated a One Night Stay to raise funds for the Suit Up & Succeed program and refreshments from Taste of Honey.

The Suit Up and Succeed Program provides suits, support and resources to Staten Islanders returning to work and beginning careers. Approximately 35 Men and Women business suits, shirts, blouses and ties were donated at the event. The Suit Drive continues until Friday, June 1st and donations may be brought to any of the Five branches of Victory State Bank. Visit Victory State Bank ‘s website for the location near you!

WBCLDC’s and its Woman’s Business Committee have partnered with Staten Island organizations providing workforce and career services (NYCID, Nurse Family Partnership & Career Coaches at McKee High school . Suits will be provided to individuals enrolled in one of the workforce and/or education programs, offered by the above mentioned organizations.

Many thanks to the Business Women Committee of WBCLDC’s Business Outreach Center, especially, Maryann Piazza , owner of Majestic Vending and Corporate Secretary of BUCKS, for coordinating this event . Maryann has been involved with the original Women’s Business Conference, eight years ago, begun by previous director Susan Meeker and Joann Regan of WBCLDC. Thanks are also extended to our attendees- members of the Staten Island business community, Comfort Inn staff and several BUCK members for attending and donating suits.
