Join us on Tuesday, April 10h from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Staten Island’s newest hotel, the Comfort Inn, located at 310 Wild Avenue, SI,NY 10314 for Business Networking, Suit Drive and Open house, This is WBCLDC’s 5th Pre-Conference event promoting the 8th Annual Business Woman Conference , titled, Invent and Re-Invent Yourself!, and includes a suit drive to benefit Staten Island men and women, both young adults and unemployed.
The event is free to the public and includes opportunity to network with woman-owned businesses and professionals; donate a suit (women and men’s suits, ties and dress shirts) to the new Suit Up and Succeed Program and learn about services and the annual business woman conference of WBCLDC/BOC of S.I., a Small Business Administration, designated Women’s Business Center.
West Brighton Community LDC’s Women’s Business Center, offers its 5th Pre-conference event that brings together the Staten Island business community and professionals to support local businesses, network and learn about the services the 8th annual Business Woman Conference to be held on June 20th at the Li Greci’s Staaten.
Free Makeovers will be provided by woman-owned business Zoe Salon and refreshments compliments of Comfort Inn and Taste of Honey and NYC Certified Woman-owned business. Raffles will help raise funds for the Suit Up and Succeed Program, you have a chance to win a One night Stay at the Comfort Inn, among items donated by HandPicked Creations of New Dorp and others.
At our previous event on March 28th, Claire Carucci, owner of Zoe Salon and Claire Guadango, owner of Hand Picked Creations, both of New Dorp, hosted WBCLDC’s 4th Pre-conference event. This included the generous donation of two makeovers for McKee Hig school students participating in the Career Coaching Program. Suits were also provided by Handpicked creations.
The Suit Up and Succeed Program aims to provide suits, career development resources, and mentoring to Staten Islanders. This program compliments existing workforce training and education programs on Staten Island, such as the Career Coaching Program at McKee High school. Career development resources assist two groups- young women and men between the ages of 17 to 24 and adults returning to the workforce or beginning a career. WBLCDC volunteers, Carol Di Marco of Blue Label Design and Valerie Contrino and Contrino Travel, have worked with McKee High School program for the last three years.
The 8th Annual Business Woman Conference is titled “Invent and Re-Invent Your Business and Yourself”. It is an all day event at the Li Geci’s Staaten Banquet Hall scheduled for Wednesday, June 20, 2012.
